the winters tale
written by Katy Durnford 22/06/2017

starry night sky shines over a white blanket
it crunches under foot
the light it shines bright tonight
casting eery shadows on the sight

when the owl hoots it cries on the wind
the rustling leaves fall silently still
it echoes the day in darkness
full of life it fills

when the snow lays softly on the ground
on winding steps and hills
crunching to embed footprints
whilst the leaves make a sound

night stars twinkle brightly over the land
covered in snow and icecold water
the droplets twinkle in the light
the ducks lay low out for the night

the eeryness creeps around you
it envelopes your body with cold
into the night come with me to
will you be so bold?

starry night over a blanket of snow
twinkles away for ever
when the rippled water lays still
with ducks all in row

dont be hardened it is just a snow fall
it's cold and bare in the dark
walk together hand in hand
through the country park

in the warmth of the home
fires burning in the fireplace
the light streams through the window
we sit on the sofas in grace

outside remakes starkly cold
inside is warm and cosy
brisk cool air awakes you
whilst the fire makes you dozy

be on the path of the starry sky
in yourself all calm
planting the way with your palm
whilst the people walk on by
"Walk with the Angels, for they are amongst us. Believe and you will see!"
